RADAM: RAdiation Detection And Measurement
The mail objective of the project to familiarize students with basic methods and radiation measurements
09/04/2018 to 13/04/2018
Aachen
Germany
Participants:
Coordinator:
Expected Outcome:
The student is able to
- Assess statistical uncertainties in counting experiments
- Set – up experiments with different types of detectors (GM-tubes, Prop-counter, NaI, Si, HPGe, LSC, Doserate meters etc.)
- Select the appropriate type of detection system for different kinds of radiation (X-ray, alpha, beta, gamma, and neutrons)
- Respect the radiation protection rules in handling sealed radioactive sources.
The student also gets to know some additional techniques like coincidences, neutron activitation, waste drum assay.
